To Market, To Market…..

FINALLY!!! Pictures from fall market! It’s about time, right?  Sorry friends about the delay. I have been goin’ goin’ goin, ever since I got back from Houston! And the crazyness hasn’t stopped! We are getting ready for our first Sample Sale here at TTD, and in the middle of construction from the addition to the store (I’ll post pictures soon). So, we are going to be swamped right through the New Year, and probably through January!  Who am I kidding? We are going to be busy right through our spring shows!

Booth_houston_us_girls_2

How about these bright happy aprons huh!!  These PINK AND GREEN versions are made out of the new hydrangea fabrics from LakeHouse Dry Goods. Not our usual green stripe ones, but we got a lot of attention with these!

Booth_houston_cabinet

Can you tell that I LOVE color! You can see I cram a lot of stuff into our booth. As my friends would say;

“I can really junk it up”!

Booth_houston_aprons

Here is another picture of our new aprons. I absolutely love this fabric line! It’s called Sole by Free Spirit. LOVE IT! Even I could get happy about cooking in one of these aprons! This is a well known fact about me…. I don’t really like to cook. I CAN cook, but most of the time, I don’t really enjoy it, so I don’t do it. My poor kids. They actually get excitedwhen I cook a “home-cooked” meal. When I was a kid, we got excited about eating out. My kids get excited when we “eat in”. I know it’s terrible, but you know it’s just so much work! Not just the cooking and cleaning up, but the meal planning and shopping for the food! I enjoy shopping, don’t get me wrong, but not for food! It’s just not my thing! I have aspirations about cooking and even own cookbooks unlike my friend Cindy, but I don’t really like to do it!

THERE!! I have unburdened myself and confessed my shortcomings. I feel so much better!!

I might add, that I did cook Thanksgiving dinner for my entire family and my husband's. And it was fairly successful if you don’t count the three pies I made that were all disasters!  Out of practice! I probably need to make pies more often. Next time, I think I will let Baker’s Square cook the pies for me. Or perhaps my mom!

Well, that’s enough ranting for one post don’t you think? I’ll try to get some good pictures of the construction progress and of the Sample Sale this weekend, and post them soon!

“We are shaped and fashioned by what we love.”   Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

That is so true isn’t it.

That’s all for now, God Bless!

Give thanks to the Lord……

Diane_with_boulder_creek_copy

One of the things that I am most thankful for is, good friends.  God has been so faithful to bring some of the most kind and generous people into our lives and I want to take this opportunity to share with you this wonderful family. We met Diane from Boulder Creek Designs a few markets ago and have had the pleasure of being neighbors with her and her hubby Cliff on several occasions. This past market they were so absolutely wonderful to invite us to come share a meal with them.  They took us to her brother-in-law Gary’s (that’s him pictured) and his wife Shirley’s home (that’s her trying to hide in the background).

Here we are ready to “chow down”!! That is Mr. Cliff Bear himself hiding behind Laura.  Now, for some pictures of the food…….

Diane_rolls_salad

Look at this fabulous salad! And these buns were THE most delicious, dripping in garlic butter and the picture doesn’t really show you how HUMACIOUS they were!

Diane_pasta

And what could be better than Lasagna and Chicken Florentine! Ok, my mouth is starting to water!!  The “piece de la resistance”….

Diane_pie

Pumpkin praline cheesecake with streusel (or aka; “thunder-thigh-growth-enhancer”)!!!!  And, let me say, it was as fabulous as it looks!!

And last but not least……..

Diane_guy_with_glasses_2

Here is Gary with Miss Sherry’s glasses. We had so much fun and laughed ourselves silly. Gary is a real “jokester” and Shirley was just so sweet, and hardly got a word in. Thanks so much you guys for having a servants heart and sharing your gift of hospitality. What a blessing you were to us all!! From the bottom of our hearts a big hearty “THANKS”.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Psalm 107:1

God is SO good, all the time! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone, don’t eat too much!!

The two shall become one…..

What have I been doing since market? I’ve been asking myself that question. Well four days after we arrived home, my baby brother got married! They asked me to do the flowers, so I made myself get them finished before I left for Houston, and get them delivered (as much for my peace of mind as for the brides). Since they were all silk, that was easy. In case you don’t know this about me, I studied horticulture and floral design many years ago, and have in the past done wedding flowers on many occasions. So when they asked me to do flowers for them, I said “yes”, however when I actually began the process, I had no idea how “out of practice” I was, and it took me twice as long to do them as it should have!! Proof that “if you don’t use it, you’ll lose it”! Luckily for me, it was a small wedding!

Wedding_brian_and_kelly_sm

Here is the happy couple. Brian and his new wife Kelly. The wedding was on Saturday November 3. Aren’t they a beautiful couple! So I have a new sister-in-law! Can’t wait to get to know her a little better. And Kelly has 2 daughters Lindsay and Katie (hope I spelled their names right) so I have 2 new nieces to get to know too.

Wedding_olivia_and_bud

And speaking of beautiful couples….. my oldest daughter Olivia and her man Floyd (Bud) pictured here. This is the only picture I have of the two of them since like a winter formal dance when Olivia was in high school.  I’m not sure who is to blame for that? Probably me, I just need to be taking more pictures!! Although, it is seldom that I get them both in the same place at the same time.  Aren’t they the cutest?

Wedding_nick_and_renae

And yet another “beautiful couple”…. my oldest son Nick and his “lady” Renae. He cleans up pretty well doesn’t he? One of the nicest things about weddings is that we get to spend time with our families and everyone gets all dressed up! I know as a mom, I love to see my kids all dressed up. Now if I could just get them all in one place together and all dressed up, I could actually have a family picture to send out to all of the relatives for Christmas!! That is something I haven’t accomplished for quite awhile. And nearly impossible to do, ya know what I mean? Maybe, I could just Photoshop them all into the same picture? It might be the only way to make it happen! My middle daughter Stephanie was home sick with the flu, so I was sad that she didn’t get to come and I didn’t get pictures of the three of them together. Oh well, maybe over the holidays!

Wedding_mommy_sm

Next to the bride, the prettiest girl there…. my mommy. And just look at that fabulous wrist coursage! Sorry, I couldn’t resist. My only regret is, I wish my dad could have been there. I’m sure he was watching. I know he was “there” in spirit. What a reunion we will have someday! I love you mommy!

Wedding_flowers

A close up of the flowers….. I love the colors she chose. The wedding was small, not too formal, and beautiful.

Wedding_cake

My niece, Tabitha and I had the honor of cutting and serving the cake. Too bad I didn’t get a picture. Although, I have to say it was pretty uneventful, which is a good thing when you are cutting a wedding cake right! It was a first experience for both of us, and luckily grandma was there to give us direction on how to do it. There is so much to learn from your mother isn’t there? It just never seems to end.

Wedding_me_and_ben

Me and my nephew Ben, the only one who would actually dance with me.  This picture is for my sister Barb and my brother-in-law Mike. They live in Washington, and couldn’t come to the wedding. You guys must have done a good job raising him, any guy who wouldn’t be too ashamed to dance with his “old” aunt. We missed you guys, hope to see ya again soon!

Wedding_me_and_nick

One last picture, me and #1 son Nick. This is our “dancing pose”. Since he wouldn’t actually dance with me, he let me get a picture of the two of us “pretending” to dance. Apparently he and Olivia had made a pact that they would not dance at the reception. What’s with that? I think they were just afraid that their mother might actually dance and embarrass them. I say “that’s what parent’s are supposed to do”!

***Thought for the day***

Quoting Dr. Joyce Brothers on marriage;  “Marriage is not just spiritual communion and embraces; marriage is also three meals a day, sharing the workload and remembering to carry out the trash.”

Amen to that!  Thanks so much for letting me go “on and on” about my family and our celebration! I’ll get back to posting about market and quilting stuff soon!

God Bless!
