Shopping with my girls……

Girls

One of the greatest pleasures we mom’s have is spending quality time with our kids. What could be better than shopping! These are 2 of my 3 girls. The oldest and the youngest. My middle daughter Stephanie was not in town this weekend so we missed her spending the day with us. I’m hoping to get them all together for some Christmas shopping sometime soon! That sounds strange doesn’t it! Christmas shopping, soon….!  My oldest daughter Olivia is 24 and my youngest Haley is 11. Haley is the one who plays football. I know you’re thinking I can’t possibly have a child that old right? Cause I’m so youthful looking!! Actually I was only 10 when I had Olivia. Ok, that’s a lie! I was really 23 when she was born…. So do the math, and that makes me a very youthful 47!!  “50” is getting closer everyday! I can’t say I’m really looking forward to that number. It’s just a number right?

Velda

And here is my cutie mommy! She’s relaxing while we shop. Isn’t that a great chair!! I really was tempted to buy it for my store. It was at the Bombay Kids Store.

Shoes

Had to show you these! They are the perfect Tammy Tadd colors. I’m still kicking myself for not buying them. You know it was just one of those days that I wasn’t feeling like trying on shoes and everyone was tired and ready to call it a day. I guess it wasn’t meant to be. They were probably not comfortable anyway. Like that would matter, right!

My daughters love to shop at Anthropologie. So as I was looking around while they were trying on clothes and then deciding they didn’t love it that much to pay the ticket price…. I made a little display of my own!  These are the greatest little candles. They have fabulous packaging and they smell wonderful. I’m all about wonderful smells. Just ask my youngest son. When I can smell his feet through his shoes even before he takes them off (and they’re NOT wonderful), it’s time to buy new shoes! We throw those babies away!

The Queen Mother…..

Queen_mother_plaque_2

This is one of my favorite signs! I bought this for myself from one of my favorite shops in town Megan Morrison’s Home and Garden. I try not to go there too often! It’s dangerous. I’m thinking I’m due for a trip there right after I get back from market. This little sign is the motto my kids have learned to live by. Yeah RIGHT!! Don’t I wish!  I just thought I would take a little break from the “market” goings on and show you some personal stuff.

Kathy_bicycle_lady_copy

One of our customer’s, Kathy, who is not only an avid sewer but an avid cycler, as well, recently came by for a visit to show us her new apron made out of Cameo Appearances pink and black dot and one of Holly’s black and white star fabrics from the Daisy Deux line. Is she the cutest or what! She’s so perfectly coordinated! Although she did confess to me that she didn’t wear the “get up” through town, she put it on when she got near the store, just for our benefit! Too funny.  I thought being Breast Cancer awareness month, this would be a perfect picture to share with you. She’s wearing THE COLOR! Way to go Kathy!!

Sherry

One more picture just for fun!! If you don’t recognize this “goofball” it’s Miss Sherry at her best! We took this picture in our hotel room at the Paducah show. I think this was one of those “end of the day moments” when we were ready to crash and she was getting ready for bed! Don’t be fooled by the jacket, I usually keep it a little on the “cool side” so she probably slept in her coat!!  She’s a good sport about getting her picture taken! And, she does have on a really cute pair of glasses!

Are These Adorable OR WHAT!!

OK, I LOVE bags!! Even when they're someone else's bag! I recently did a show in Madison, Wisconsin and had the pleasure of meeting these 2 wonderful ladies from Rose Hip Lane. They are partners and new pattern designers. They came to my booth and I asked them "who's fabulous bag is this?" When they said "theirs", I was so excited and bought patterns from them right then and there for the store!

Rose_hip_lane_with_purse_6

Of course the fabrics on these bags are fabulous too! Love the pleated ruffle at the top! They were so kind to send me a trunk show and I thought I had taken a photo of the display that the girls had done in the store, BUT when I went to post, I couldn't find it! I'm thinking now that maybe I had one of those "senior moments" and just THOUGHT about taking the picture and then forgot! You know what I mean? My grandma used to do that all the time... she would say she told you something even though she just thought about it and forgot to actually tell you. But, she was convinced that she had told you. My kids say I do the same thing. I don't belive that for minute! AND, consider the source... It is the kids... Yeah right!! That's a good excuse!

Sew_charming_3 So, anyway, if you like this bag as much as I do, go to our website and check it out! And if you wnat to contact these ladies for wholesale information here is their email info: rosehiplane@yahoo.com.

Sherman_2

And speaking of ADORABLE, I had to throw in one more photo. This is Sherman, one of our two puppies. He is a 1-1/2 year old Pomeranian. He's a big "fluff ball", and such a MALE! He's two years younger than our female, but from the minute he first walked in the door, he "took over". He is definitely the dominant one. Etta (our 3-1/2 year old female) lets him do whatever he wants. She just gets out of his way. Isn't he "stinkin' adorable"!

Well that's all for now!

Thought these were good and worth passing on.

The Ten Commandments of Human Relations

  1. Speak to people.  There is nothing as nice as a cheerful word of greeting.
  2. Smile at people.  It takes seventy-two muscles to frown, and only fourteen to smile.
  3. Call people by name.  Music to anyone’s ears is the sound of his/her own name.
  4. Be friendly and helpful.
  5. Be cordial.  Speak and act as if everything you do is genuinely a pleasure, and if it isn’t, learn to make it so.
  6. Be genuinely interested in people.  You can like almost everybody if you try.
  7. Be generous with praise, cautious with criticism.
  8. Be considerate with the feelings of others. There are usually three sides to a controversy: yours, the other fellows, and the right one.
  9. Be alert to serve. What counts most in life is what we do for others.
  10. Add to this a good sense of humor, a dash of humility, and a big dose of patience, and you will be rewarded many times over through life.

Even More Pre-market …..

And yet another sneak peek!! Here is a new project that we did for Camelot Cottons for their booth!  It’s bright isn’t it? You need your shades to look at this one!  Don’t you LOVE the buttons? Ok, maybe you don’t, but I DO!! This is my new line called Paisleys on Parade! Let me know what you think…….

Paisley_quilt_copy

Watch for this adorable little quilt in an upcoming edition of McCall’s Quick Quilts. How about a look at another new pattern!...

You_go_girl_copy Here is a picture of our new travel bag. It’s called “You GO Girl!” AND… there is an accessories pattern that goes with it too. It’s called “Etc., Etc.,…” I’ll show you that one after market. This bag is FABULOUS!!  It meets all airline size restrictions and has instructions for making the luggage tag too!  It doesn’t hurt that the fabric is so beautiful too!! This is LakeHouse’s new hydrangea color. It comes in a bright pink color too, which is my personal favorite.

Haley_copy_3

One last photo I thought I would “throw in” for fun! Here’s my princess playing her favorite sport! Yes she is the only girl on the team, which doesn’t bother her a bit! I am so amazed at how brave all of my kids are to try things that I would never have tried when I was growing up! Besides the fact that I never liked playing sports (I was always the typical art student, just wanted to “make” something not “play” something), but even my older children have always been so much more confident and self assured than I was at their age. Not to my credit, to God be the Glory for who He has created them to be! Yeah God!!

***Thought for the day***

According to a poll appearing in a recent issue of Be Your Best by Joyce Meyer; 70% of the moms polled say that they spend more time with their kids than their own moms did. That’s pretty encouraging considering how many moms today work part or full time jobs, and how many single moms there are today compared to when we were kids. Way to go MOMS!! Keep up the good work!

Have a great day, and God Bless,

More Pre-market, more new fabric! …..

How about another sneak peek!! Here is a preview of my new line called Paisleys on Parade! I am so thrilled with the way it turned out!! Honestly when I received the scans of the fabrics I was really disappointed. The colors and scale were so way off. I was really worried that I wasn’t going to like it. So, much to my surprise, when I opened the box of fabrics, I wanted to squeal, I was so excited!! I hope you like them too. They are very whimsical and bright.

Paisley_fabrics

We are designing a new quilt that will be displayed in Camelot Cottons booth and I will take lots of pictures. I think the quilt is being submitted to one of the quilt magazines for a future publication so I’ll let you know about that later.

Paisley_fabric_line

Here is a shot of most of the line. The focus print in the bottom left hand corner is the only one that they sent me, however it’s coming in a pink background and a teal background too. So I’m anxious to see what those look like.  Wish I had some projects made to show you! Hopefully I can get them up before I have to leave for Houston.

Pre-market Scramble!…..

Aaaaah yes, it’s that time of year again!! Market time! Two times a year it gets really crazy for us here in the studio; spring and fall. We do International Quilt Market twice a year, and getting all of our new patterns designed, written, edited, samples made, photos shot and printing all finished in time is always a challenge.

We have been so busy here at TTD that I haven’t been posting much at all. Please forgive me.  There just hasn’t been time for everything. I have been neglecting my blog.  So here is my plan (remember I said the PLAN), to give you some sneak peeks at what we are working on for fall market.

Lakehouse_fabric_2

Here is your first peek….. the new fabrics from LakeHouse Dry Goods. We are working on lots of projects for Holly’s booth and our own.

Lakehouse_fabric2_2

You’ll recognize some old prints with new colorization and a new print the individual blossoms tossed on a white background.  These pieces are going to be transformed into new aprons for our booth. Can’t wait to show them to you when they are done.

Apron_final_2

And speaking of aprons…. This is a sneak peek at our new apron pattern. The #1 request we get from our customers to put into a pattern is our apron. So here it is!! Brand new, the patterns are coming “hot off the press” as I write this. It’s appropriately named “To Market, To Market”.  Watch for it on our website and in your local quilt shops beginning in early November.  The one that is pictured here is made in the new “Cherry Baby” line by LakeHouse Dry Goods and will be worn by the girls in their booth in Houston.

That’s all for now! Check back for more photos soon!
